PRESTWICH MARAUDERS SAPPHIRES TO SHINE IN SEASON WITH NEW SPONSOR

Date Published 28 November 2017

New all girl Prestwich Marauders FC team ‘The Sapphires' are set to shine in their first season with the support of new sponsor local business woman Jennie Platt.

The new U11 team is the second all girl team from the Marauders, and will play in the South Manchester Girls league this season. With a team name chosen based on their dark blue kit and their belief that they are ‘sparkling, precious objects that just happen to be hard and too tough to break', they are all set to take the league by storm.

Scott Grimshaw team coach comments: 'The "Sapphires" are proud to be associated with Jennie Platt as their sponsor, to be able to have a local, successful business woman on the front of their shirts is amazing inspiration to a bunch of 10 year old girls finding their way in the modern world.

The sponsorship given by Jennie Platt, offers the club a chance to provide much needed training equipment and supplies for these girls to keep them going over the next 12 months. All teams at Prestwich Marauders FC are run by volunteers who give their time freely for the betterment of the local children, we are funded purely by subs from players and what sponsorship we can bring in.'

Prestwich Marauders FC introduced girls football in spring 2016 and have grown in size and stature since. Prestwich Marauders Girls formed their first team the "Wildcats" in Autumn 2016 at the then u11 age group and entered the South Manchester Girls League, a league entirely made up of girls only teams. The new 2017/2018 season sees the "Wildcats" move up to u12's but also bring together the brand-new playing team of "Sapphires" at the u11 age group to yet again enter into the South Manchester Girls League.

Jenny Platt of Jennie Platt Estates adds: 'We are really pleased to continue our support of local sports groups and I am personally delighted that this time it's a girls team who are already showing great promise. We look forward to seeing them progress through the league this season, hopefully bolstered by our bright yellow logo!'
